Trade associations such as the Illinois Staffing Association are permitted to establish “political action committees” (PACs) for the purpose of soliciting contributions from eligible individuals and companies. The funds are used to support the industry’s legislative efforts and elected officials and political candidates who share our views.
As we all know, decisions made by legislators directly affect businesses every day. The Illinois Staffing Association’s PAC was formed to encourage participation in the political process in the interest of its members. Through ISA’s PAC, member companies can pool their contributions and, in that way, have a greater impact on the political process.
How the ISSA PAC works for you…
Keeping the lines of communication open with government officials is an essential function of ISA. Through the use of its PAC, the Illinois Staffing Association is doing everything possible to ensure that:
- The profits you make will be invested in your business to create jobs, not in mandatory government programs.
- Staffing companies will retain the flexibility to adapt to a changing marketplace, not be tied down by complex and costly government regulations.
What can I do to help?
The best way to accomplish these goals is to support political candidates who are sensitive to our industry’s interests and concerns. That means all of us must be involved in the political process.
What are some of the ways I can get involved?
1. If you have personal relationships with any legislators or legislative staff, let us know.
2. Use the links provided in the web site to contact the legislators in your home and business districts. Calls and faxes are the best form of communication, followed by email. The best time to build a relationship is NOW - not when there is a legislative emergency. Let your legislators know who you are, that you provide JOBS, and that you are an expert in the area of JOBS and job creation.
3. Contribute to the ISA Political Action Committee. This fund allows us to pool our resources and make our voices heard in Springfield. It is an investment in our industry and our future.
Any size donation would go a long way to supporting the cause. To donate, indicate the amount (i.e. $25, $50, $75, $100, $200, $500, $1,000) in the field below and click the Donate Now button.
