Laura Friedel, an attorney with Levenfeld Pearlstein LLC, will present this informative and interesting session on legal issues for the staffing and search business. Topics will include:
• Navigating the potholes of recording time and paying overtime
• Using background checks and internet searches wisely, including the use of social networking sites
• Determining when the employment relationship begins

May 12th: Unemployment Workshop from IDES and ISSA

This is a fantastic and interactive workshop designed for anyone who is responsible for employment service, but specifically geared towards the special circumstances that staffing firms often have. The event will be kicked off with ISSA board members sharing the current state of the Illinois and Federal Unemployment funds and how the “great recession” might impact your margins in the next 12-24 months. The Illinois Department of Employment Services will explore the unemployment claims process, how to contest a claim and provide a mock adjudication. Both managers and employees involved in the unemployment claims process will find this session very beneficial. The event will include an early morning registration with a continental breakfast at the Careerbuilder Headquarters in downtown Chicago. The cost is only $49 for members and $69 for non-members.
